My Story
Lisa is a Partner and Clinician at Three Little Birds Therapy. Lisa graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver with her Master's Degree in Social Work. She is a licensed social worker and has her Colorado Special Service Provider School Social Work Endorsement.
Lisa has over nine years of experience working with youth. She has worked in an elementary school, middle school and high school as well as a preschool. She has provided individual support and group work with each age group. She understands the different needs and abilities of adolescents and youth as they grow and develop.
She has also worked with the elderly at a hospice agency and enjoys working with mature individuals who need assistance with various life transitions that occur later in life.
Lisa has battled her own lifelong struggle with perfectionism. She understands firsthand the anxiety of not feeling good enough, pretending to be what you think others want you to be, and ruminating on every small mistake. Brene’ Brown said it best when she said “Authenticity is the daily practice of letting go of who we think we’re supposed to be and embracing who we are. Choosing authenticity means cultivating the courage to be imperfect, to set boundaries, and to allow ourselves to be vulnerable; exercising the compassion that comes from knowing that we are all made of strength and struggle; and nurturing the connection and sense of belonging that can only happen when we believe that we are enough”. Lisa understands how hard it is to be authentic, but also how true joy can only come when you are able to be your true authentic self.
She also understands the connection between authenticity and belonging. Lisa has done extensive research on the importance of having a sense of belonging and how to make connections to strengthen one’s sense of belonging. In the process, she found her passion which is helping others feel safe, understood, accepted, respected, valued, supported, and an integral part of something else - all important aspects of a true sense of belonging.
She has experience working with Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. She prefers using a holistic approach and utilizes many mindfulness practices in her own life and with clients.
